Parks & Trails within the Village of Dunlap
Central Park
Located at the corner of North 1st Street and East Ash Street, Central Park is a 2.0 acre green space owned by the Village of Dunlap, adjacent to Dunlap Grade School and Prospect United Methodist Church. The park has a pavilion and can be reserved using the online request form. The park is open dawn to dusk. The pavilion will be unavailable for reservations June 9 - June 20, 2021 for repairs.
Copperfield Park
Located in Copperfield subdivision at the corner of French Drive and Prairieview Drive, Copperfield Park is a 2.5 acre open space owned by the Village of Dunlap. The park has a playground and 20 off street parking spaces. The park can be reserved using the online request form. The park is open dawn to dusk.
North Park
Located at the 524 North 2nd Street, North Park is a 13.5 acre space parking and public restrooms owned by the Village of Dunlap. Within the park is a football field, 3 baseball diamonds, and outdoor basketball courts. The park can be reserved using the online request form. The park is open dawn to dusk.
Leslie Ruthford Park
Located at the 7263 Dickison Cemetery Road within the Village of Dunlap, the park is a 241 acre wildlife preserve. The park has a cricket pitch where matches are played by the Cricket Association of Peoria. In addition, the park has a dog training area that is managed under an agreement with the Central Illinois Police & Working Dog Association . Managed by the Peoria Park District, the park is mainly preserved natural landscape.
Wildlife Preserve
Located within the Village of Dunlap along the north side of the Kickapoo creek just east of Illinois Route 91, the 6.6 acre wildlife space is managed by the Peoria Park District. The preserve has no public access.
Rock Island Trail State Park
The Rock Island Trail is an Illinois State Park that runs 26 miles from Toulon, IL to Alta, IL. 1.8 miles of the trail are within the Village of Dunlap adding 22 acres of green space to the village. The trail connects to the Peoria Park District Rock Island Greenway creating trail access from Dunlap to the Peoria Riverfront. Adjacent to the village is the Kickapoo Creek Recreation Area that can be accessed via the trail. The recreation area has a campground (Class D primitive) that is accessible only by bike or foot. Facilities include pit toilets, fire pads, picnic tables and a picnic shelter.
